Background of home photovoltaic energy storage technology

Apr 03, 2023

Household photovoltaic refers to the technology of converting solar energy into electrical energy. Through the photovoltaic modules installed on the roof of the home or outdoors, the solar energy is converted into direct current, and then converted into alternating current through an inverter for home use. According to different types of photovoltaic modules, household photovoltaics can be divided into different types such as monocrystalline silicon solar cells, polycrystalline silicon solar cells and amorphous silicon solar cells. Its principle is to convert solar energy into electrical energy through the photoelectric effect, so as to realize self-generation of households.

The development of energy storage technology can be divided into the following stages:

Mechanical energy storage stage: The early energy storage technology is mainly mechanical energy storage, such as hydroelectric power generation, wind power generation, etc. These technologies work by converting energy into mechanical energy, which is then converted into electrical energy for storage and use.

Chemical energy storage stage: With the development of battery technology, chemical energy storage has gradually become the mainstream energy storage method. Currently commonly used battery technologies include lead-acid batteries, nickel metal hydride batteries, lithium-ion batteries, etc.

Thermal energy storage stage: Thermal energy storage refers to the technology of converting energy into thermal energy for storage and use. Common thermal energy storage technologies include combined heat and power generation, hot water storage tanks, etc.

Capacitive energy storage stage: Capacitive energy storage refers to the technology of realizing energy storage by storing electric charges in capacitors. Capacitive energy storage has the advantages of fast response and long life, but its energy density is low.

With the development of new energy and smart grid, energy storage technology will usher in new development opportunities, and future energy storage technology will be more intelligent, efficient and sustainable.

There is a close relationship between home photovoltaics and energy storage technologies. Photovoltaic technology can provide homes with clean, renewable energy by converting sunlight into electricity. However, the sustainability and stability of solar energy are affected by factors such as weather, so storage technologies are needed to ensure a stable supply of energy. Energy storage technology can store the electricity generated by photovoltaic power generation for use at night or in bad weather. Therefore, the combination of photovoltaic and energy storage technology can achieve self-sufficiency of the home and sustainable use of energy. At the same time, the application of this technology can also reduce household energy costs, reduce dependence on traditional energy sources, and be more environmentally friendly and sustainable.
