Lithium-ion batteries can spontaneously ignite and pose a fire hazard due to overheating due to poor battery design, battery damage from dropping or impacting, short circuiting, overcharging, rapid discharging, or elevated storage temperatures. Lithium-ion batteries contain highly flammable lithium metal. Poor battery design, electrical shorts, overcharging, rapid discharging, or elevated storage temperatures can cause batteries to overheat. Compared with traditional batteries, lithium-ion batteries have great advantages, greater storage capacity; high energy density, which reduces the weight and size of batteries, so they are smaller and lighter; and longer service life. Supports deep discharge for maximum capacity; longer shelf life; low self-discharge, 3% per month. They require no maintenance; there is no discharge memory effect. They emit no polluting gases; they are safer and more reliable. The biggest feature of lithium batteries is their long service life. The life of a battery is measured in cycles, including three stages: discharge, charge and standby. Therefore, the more cycles a battery provides, the longer it will last.
